Since its launch in March 2025, X-Disciplinarity has embraced a bold vision, dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary research to address complex global challenges. In just three issues, the journal has received over 100 submissions and published 25 high-quality articles across a wide range of fields, including science, engineering, medicine, and education. These articles have garnered over 500,000 visits and numerous citations, earning it widespread global recognition. To support the continued expansion of its content, the journal has restructured its editorial structure. A new Editorial Director Board, comprised of three distinguished Editors-in-Chief, guides strategic direction and maintains scholarly rigor. A strengthened multi-level review process—including initial screening, expert evaluation, peer review, and final approval by at least two members of the Editorial Director Board—ensures the journal's quality and integrity. The journal also emphasizes community building, incorporating doctoral students as observers and interns into the review process to cultivate the next generation of scholars. X-Disciplinarity is committed to openness and innovation, inviting researchers from around the world to contribute to a collaborative intellectual platform dedicated to transformative, interdisciplinary dialogue.
When X-Disciplinarity was launched in March 2025, it was guided by a bold vision: to create a truly interdisciplinary journal where ideas from diverse fields could converge and inspire innovation. In an era when global challenges—health, climate, energy, technology—transcend disciplinary boundaries, we believed there was a need for a platform that could catalyze conversations across the silos of academia.
In just three issues, that vision has begun to take shape. We have welcomed more than one hundred submissions and published twenty-five high-quality articles spanning a remarkable range of disciplines, from fundamental sciences and materials engineering to medicine and education. Each contribution has demonstrated the power of crossing boundaries, showing how collaborative thinking can generate insights unattainable within a single field. Indexed by Google Scholar and ResearchGate, our publications have already reached a global readership, with more than half a million accesses and multiple citations in only a few months. For a young bi-monthly journal, this is both humbling and inspiring—it affirms that X-Disciplinarity is being noticed, read, and valued by the academic community.
Yet growth also brings responsibility. As the scope and complexity of submissions have expanded, we recognized the need to strengthen our editorial foundation. It is with great excitement, therefore, that we announce a bold reorganization of our editorial structure, ushering in a new chapter for the journal.
At the center of this structure is the Editorial Director Board, the governing body responsible for guiding the journal’s strategic vision, safeguarding academic rigor, and upholding ethical standards. We are honored to appoint three distinguished scholars to this leadership council:
Prof. Thomas J. Webster (Editor-in-Chief) – providing strategic development and global vision.
Prof. Ismail Fidan (Co-Editor-in-Chief) – ensuring academic excellence and innovation.
Prof. Weiling Gui (Co-Editor-in-Chief) – upholding ethical scholarship and educational impact.
Every manuscript published in X-Disciplinarity will now undergo a layered editorial process: initial screening by the Handling Editor, expert evaluation by subject-area editors, rigorous peer review by external referees, and final approval by at least two members of the Editorial Director Board, followed by ethical auditing. This process ensures that every article meets the highest standards of quality, fairness, and integrity.
The day-to-day operations will be carried out by our Editorial Board, a diverse and growing community of scholars responsible for manuscripts in their respective fields. Their expertise ensures that each submission is matched with the right editor, evaluated with care, and developed into its strongest possible form.
Equally vital to this process are our peer reviewers. The reviewers of X-Disciplinarity contribute their time, expertise, and critical insights to ensure that published articles are not only technically sound but also intellectually impactful. Their constructive feedback strengthens manuscripts, supports authors, and upholds the scholarly credibility of the journal. We view our reviewers not as external participants but as integral members of the journal’s academic community, and we extend our deepest gratitude for their dedication and professionalism.
In addition to strengthening our editorial structure, X-Disciplinarity is also committed to cultivating the next generation of scholars. To this end, we are actively inviting doctoral candidates to participate in the review process. Beginning as observers, they will shadow experienced reviewers and editors, gradually taking on greater responsibilities as they gain expertise. This initiative not only provides valuable training for young researchers but also enriches the review process with fresh perspectives. By creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we aim to build a sustainable academic community where senior scholars and emerging voices work together to uphold quality and advance interdisciplinary knowledge.
This reorganization is not simply an administrative change. It marks a new era for X-Disciplinarity: a reaffirmation of our commitment to building a platform that is more than a journal—it is an intellectual home for visionary scholarship. By strengthening our editorial structure, we are better prepared to foster research that is innovative, interdisciplinary, and impactful.
Looking forward, we aim to expand our global reach, encourage cross-disciplinary dialogues, and promote open and inclusive scholarship. We are actively inviting new editors to join our Editorial Board and welcome submissions from researchers across the sciences, engineering, medicine, education, and beyond. Our hope is to nurture a community where bold ideas are not only published but celebrated and amplified.
